Website Redesign

A redesign is a migration before it is a design job. You already have URLs, rankings and content that earn something — the risk is not an ugly site, it is losing traffic you spent years accumulating.

Why a redesign is riskier than a new build

A new site starts at zero and can only go up. A redesign starts with something that already works to some degree, and the most common outcome of doing it badly is a site that looks far better and gets fewer enquiries. The reasons are almost never visual: URLs change without redirects, pages that quietly ranked get deleted because nobody checked, copy gets shortened for balance and loses the terms it ranked for. None of that applies to a first build, which is why the process here starts with an audit rather than a design.

What Website Redesign covers

What currently earns traffic

Search Console and Analytics reviewed before anything is designed, so decisions are made against what actually performs rather than what looks tired.

URL mapping

Every existing URL mapped to its destination on the new site, with a 301 plan. This is the single most common cause of a post-redesign traffic drop.

Content audit

Keep, rewrite, merge or retire — decided per page against performance, not against how old it looks.

Preserving what ranks

Headings and terms that pages already rank for are carried over deliberately, rather than lost to a shorter design-led rewrite.

Staged launch

A staging build you sign off, then a launch with redirects live from the first minute rather than added once someone notices.

Post-launch monitoring

Index coverage, 404s and rankings watched for the weeks after launch, when migration problems actually surface.

What you end up with

  • An inventory of every current URL with keep / redirect / retire decided
  • A 301 redirect map, live at launch
  • A content audit showing what performs and what does not
  • Post-launch monitoring of index coverage, 404s and rankings

Frequently asked questions

Will a redesign hurt my Google rankings?

Only if the migration is mishandled. Rankings are attached to URLs, so the risk sits in changed or deleted URLs without redirects, and in rewritten copy that drops the terms a page ranked for. Both are avoidable, which is why the URL map and content audit come before any design work.

How much does a website redesign cost in India?

It depends on how many pages carry over, whether content is rewritten, and whether the platform changes. A redesign on the same platform with existing content is considerably cheaper than a rebuild plus migration, and we tell you which one your site actually needs after the audit.

Should I redesign or rebuild?

Redesign when the structure and platform still serve you and the site simply looks and converts badly. Rebuild when the platform is the constraint — when it is slow, fragile or expensive to change. We audit first and give you the honest answer, including when the answer is that neither is needed yet.

Can you keep my existing content?

Yes, and often we should. Pages that already rank are assets, and rewriting them for the sake of a fresh feel is one of the easier ways to lose traffic. We keep what performs, rewrite what underperforms, and merge what competes with itself.

How long does a redesign take?

A small site is typically four to six weeks — longer than a comparable new build, because the audit and URL mapping happen before design starts. That front-loaded work is what stops the launch costing you traffic.
