Local SEO

Ranking in the map pack is a different job from ranking a website. It runs on a different set of signals, and the asset doing most of the work is your Google Business Profile rather than your homepage.

Why this is not just SEO with a city name added

Ordinary SEO ranks pages. Local SEO ranks a business listing, and Google scores that listing on three things — how close you are to the searcher, how relevant your categories are, and how well known you are. Only two of those are things anyone can work on, which is why local SEO is mostly profile, category and review work rather than page work. A site can rank nationally and still be invisible in the map pack three kilometres away, and the fix is usually nothing to do with the website.

What Local SEO covers

Google Business Profile

Primary and secondary categories, services, attributes, hours and photos — categories in particular are the single most misconfigured field we find.

Map pack ranking factors

Working on relevance and prominence, the two of the three factors that are actually within reach. Proximity is not one of them.

Citations and NAP consistency

Name, address and phone matching across directories. Conflicting records make Google less certain about you, and certainty is what prominence is built on.

Reviews as a process

A repeatable way to ask, plus responding to what arrives. We do not write, buy or gate reviews — all three are against Google policy and get profiles suspended.

Local landing pages

A page per area only where you genuinely serve it and have something specific to say. Twenty near-identical city pages is the classic way to get a site filtered.

Local search intent

Mapping "near me" and city-modified queries to the right page, which is often the profile rather than the site.

What you end up with

  • A fully configured Google Business Profile with the categories that match how people search
  • A citation audit with inconsistent records corrected
  • A review request process your team can run without us
  • Map pack and local rank tracking reported monthly

Frequently asked questions

How much do local SEO services cost in India?

Local SEO is usually the cheapest SEO to run, because the highest-impact work — categories, services, photos, a review process — is front-loaded and does not need monthly content. We quote a setup scope and a smaller ongoing figure, and for many small businesses the ongoing part is genuinely optional after the first few months.

How long does it take to rank in the map pack?

Category and profile fixes can move rankings within two to four weeks, which is far faster than website SEO. Review volume and citation consistency take longer to compound — expect three months before the position is stable rather than fluctuating.

Do I need a website for local SEO?

Not strictly — a Google Business Profile can rank without one. But the site is what converts the click into an enquiry, and Google uses it as a relevance signal for the profile, so a business with both consistently outperforms a business with only a listing.

Can you rank me in a city I am not based in?

Honestly, not reliably. Proximity is a ranking factor you cannot work around, and creating a fake address or a virtual office to fake it is grounds for suspension. If you genuinely serve that area, a service-area profile and a real landing page will help — but we will not pretend it is the same as being there.

What is the difference between local SEO and organic SEO?

Organic SEO competes for the blue links, local SEO competes for the map pack that sits above them. They use different signals, different assets and different work — which is why this is a separate page. Most local businesses need both, and the map pack usually pays back sooner.
