Client project, managed by BLOG MATRIX. We designed and built CGL Typing and manage its development and SEO. The site is public, so its rankings can be checked by anyone, and the screenshots are cropped to the Search Console panels and otherwise unedited. Figures checked on 25 September 2026.

WHAT SEARCH CONSOLE SHOWS

The same 28 days,
two months apart.

More than eleven times the clicks and nearly ten times the impressions, with the average position moving up from 8.4 to 7.2. Every click came from organic search.

The starting point

Candidates preparing for the SSC CGL typing test had no accurate way to practise. The sites ranking for those searches measured words per minute on arbitrary passages, which tells a candidate almost nothing about whether they would pass the actual Data Entry Speed Test.

CGL Typing was live by late June 2026 and almost invisible in search. By the 28 days to 29 July it was earning 506 clicks from Google, which is the baseline in the table above.

What we built

A test that reproduces the exam instead of approximating it: a 2,000 key-depression passage, a 15-minute timer, and scoring that separates full mistakes from half mistakes the way SSC does, then tells the candidate whether that result would pass for their category. No signup, and no ads on the test screen, because an ad that shifts the layout mid-test ruins the attempt.

It is hand-written HTML, CSS and JavaScript, with no framework and no CMS. The typing engine, timer, mistake classifier and scoring all run in the browser, so the test starts instantly and keeps working on a weak connection, which matters when the audience is often on shared mobile data.

The homepage: the offer and the two actions, above the fold.

The search work

One page per search intent: the CGL test itself, practice paragraphs, tests for other exams and languages, calculators and guides, each aimed at a distinct search instead of competing with its neighbours. Related pages link to each other, so none is left orphaned.

Technical SEO was part of the build rather than a later fix: indexing, structured data for questions and breadcrumbs, and Core Web Vitals. Guides carry a named author with first-hand experience of the exam. No paid ads were run at any point.

Where it shows up now

On 25 September 2026, cgltyping.in appeared second for “ssc cgl typing test”, below Testbook, in a signed-in search from India, and first for “ssc cgl typing test paragraph” in a private window. Rankings change with the searcher, the location and the day, so read these as two dated checks, not a guarantee.

Search Console now reports appearances in Google’s AI features separately. CGL Typing’s pages were shown there 52.7k times over three months, 36k of them in the last 28 days and 12.2k in the last 7.

What else was happening

No paid ads ran, so the traffic here is organic search. Two things still need weighing, and a case study that left them out would fail the test on our own case studies page.

Demand in this niche follows the SSC calendar and rises as candidates prepare for the typing test, so part of the September rise may be seasonal rather than ranking alone; we have not separated the two. And these are search numbers, not sales: the test is free, so the figures show visibility and visits, not revenue.

What this means for your project

The method carries over: work out what people actually search for, give each intent its own useful page, build the site fast and clean, and treat technical SEO as part of the build. The numbers do not carry over automatically. They depend on how much demand your market has and how strong the competition is.

That is what the free SEO audit is for. The build side is on our web development page, and the search side on SEO services.

QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

A few practical details.

Is CGL Typing a client project?

Yes. We designed and built the site and manage its development and SEO. The owner is not named here, but the site is public, so its rankings can be checked by anyone.

Did you run ads for it?

No. Every click in these figures came from organic Google search.

Can I check the numbers?

The screenshots are cropped to the Search Console panels and otherwise unedited, and the rankings can be checked by anyone with a search, bearing in mind that results vary by searcher and day.

Can you get the same results for my site?

The method, yes. The numbers depend on your market’s demand and competition, so nobody honest can promise them. A free SEO audit is a reasonable first look at what is realistic for you.
