BLOG MATRIX / PATNA

SEO for Patna businesses.
Starting with who is really searching.

A fair amount of search advice assumes the person typing is the person paying. In Patna, across coaching, healthcare and family businesses, that is often not the case, and it changes what the pages need to do.

Discuss your Patna business

Often two people are involved and only one of them searches

A student searches for a coaching institute and a parent decides. A young adult looks up a hospital and a relative chooses. A junior researches suppliers and a proprietor signs. In each case the person doing the searching and the person committing the money want different things from the same page.

The one who searches usually wants speed, specifics and a sense of whether this is for them. The one who decides wants reassurance: how long you have existed, who is accountable, what happens if it goes wrong, what it costs in total. A page written only for the first gets shared and then stalls. A page written only for the second never gets found. The workable answer is usually one page that opens with the specifics and carries the reassurance further down, rather than two pages that split the audience and compete.

Check you can serve the enquiries before you chase them

This gets skipped and it causes real damage. If search works, you get more enquiries, and more enquiries are only an improvement if somebody answers them well. A business that already takes a day to respond does not benefit from doubling its volume; it becomes a business that disappoints twice as many people, some of whom write about it publicly.

So it is worth a blunt look at capacity first. Who answers the phone when it rings at once, and how quickly does a form submission actually get a reply? What is your honest limit on new customers this quarter? If the answer is that you are near it, the useful work may be converting your existing enquiries better rather than generating more, and that is a cheaper project. We would rather establish that early than deliver volume into a process that cannot hold it.

A lot of what gets called SEO is not

Scope confusion causes more disappointment in this work than poor execution does. People arrive expecting search to cover things it does not, then feel let down by an engagement that did exactly what it promised.

To be plain about the boundaries. SEO does not build you a website, though it will tell you what is wrong with the one you have. It is not social media, and posting more will not move search positions. It is not paid advertising, which puts you at the top today and stops the day you stop paying. It does not write your business a reputation; reviews come from customers. And it will not make a weak offer sell. What it does cover is being findable when someone looks for what you provide, and being convincing enough when they arrive. If you need the other things too, you need other suppliers, and knowing that at the start is worth more than a broad promise.

Internal links are the cheapest improvement most sites are missing

Here is something that costs nothing and gets neglected almost everywhere. The links between your own pages tell search engines which of them matter and help visitors find the next thing. Most small sites have almost none, beyond the main menu.

The fix is genuinely simple. Where a service page mentions something you explain elsewhere, link to it in the sentence rather than leaving it. Make sure the pages you care about are reachable in a click or two from the homepage. Use wording that describes the destination instead of "click here". No new content is required and no developer is needed for most of it. It is the sort of improvement we would rather hand you to do yourselves than bill for, and it usually shows.

An honest place to start

Probably a conversation about whether search is your constraint at all. For a good number of businesses the bottleneck is response time, or the offer, or capacity, and no amount of visibility fixes those.

Ours is a small team in Chandigarh. We hold no Patna address, so the map listings here belong to businesses actually based in the city, and our keyword research contains nothing for this market, so the numbers would have to come from you. We do search and nothing else. Tell us what you sell, who does the searching and who signs, and we will tell you whether this is worth your money. Where the answer is yes, small business SEO is usually the shape it takes.

QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

A few practical details.

Two people are involved in our sales. Does that affect the search work?

Often, yes. Frequently one person searches and another decides, and they need different things from the site. The page that wins the search is rarely the page that closes the decision, and both have to exist.

Should we chase every enquiry we can attract?

Only the ones you can serve. Attracting demand you cannot fulfil wastes your team’s time and produces bad reviews. It is worth deciding what a good enquiry looks like before increasing the number of them.

What is the cheapest improvement most sites are missing?

Internal links. Connecting pages that belong together costs nothing, helps people find the next step and helps search engines understand what the site is about. It is routinely skipped in favour of new content.
